A wanted con artist (John Hodiak) who almost got away with a fortune in bonds is escorted on a railway odyssey back to Sing Sing by a cop (Lloyd Nolan) who's determined to find out where the securities have been stashed. The trip's made all the more perilous by a lady grifter (Lucille Ball) and a gun-happy ex-cohort (Elisha Cook, Jr.) who each want to get their hands on the notes.
