Joan Crawford In The 1950s
Format:
Joan Crawford turns in a powerhouse performance as "Harriet Craig" (1950), a neurotic perfectionist whose need for neatness and control in her stately mansion borders on the psychotic. When she sabotages husband Wendell Corey's chances for a job promotion, he is forced to admit her selfishness is out of control. "Autumn Leaves" (1956) casts Crawford as a middle-age spinster who finds the love she has always longed for with younger man Cliff Robertson, unaware of the dark secrets in his life. Vera Miles co-stars; Robert Aldrich directs. And in "The Story Of Esther Costello" (1957), Crawford is a wealthy American divorcee vacationing in Ireland who takes an interest in the plight of a young girl left blind, deaf, and mute from a childhood trauma. Rossano Brazzi co-stars. Four-disc set also includes "Queen Bee." 6 2/3 hrs. total. Standard/Widescreen; Soundtrack: English; photo gallery; poster gallery; featurette; more.
