Dorothy McGuire gives a emotional performance as a sickly woman with a critical heart condition who believes that she's destined to spend her life alone. When her father learns that she has a deep affection for Van Johnson, he pays Johnson to marry McGuire, much to the dismay of McGuire's rival Ruth Roman. The troubling secret is eventually revealed to McGuire, but everything may not be as it seems. Louis Calhern co-stars. 84 min. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono.
