This award-winning Basic Math series helps students to build confidence in their ability to "do math" and develop the knowledge and skills required to become mathematically literate. This first program in this series will introduce students to the scope of the series and starts with understanding numbers, the basic key to understanding all mathematical concepts. And this lesson will do more than demonstrate the "how's" of arithmetic; you will also be shown why the methods work and how mathematics is applied in the "real world". You'll also learn the answers to the fundamental questions of "what is adding?" and "what is subtracting?" so that you can progress to learning addition and subtraction of fractions, decimals, integers, and, eventually, algebraic polynomials. Students Will Learn: How to use the Basic Math series, how to explain the meaning of the word number, to demonstrate the ability to add whole numbers and to demonstrate the ability to subtract whole numbers.
