Based on the true-crime book by Timothy Tyson, this gripping drama relates the turmoil that engulfed 1970 North Carolina following the murder of a black Vietnam veteran by a gang of white assailants. After the killers are acquitted in spite of overwhelming evidence against them, an activist teacher (Nate Parker) leads a citywide boycott while a white preacher (Rick Schroder) takes to the pulpit to inspire racial progress. Michael Rooker, Lela Rochon co-star. 128 min. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital 5.1; Subtitles: English (SDH), Spanish; interviews; theatrical trailer.
