Hungarian-born bacteriologist-turned-filmmaker Pál Fejös (aka Paul Fejos) directed this part-silent, part-sound ode to Coney Island on a busy Fourth of July. In the film─which boasts creative color tinting, special effects, and a very mobile camera─two lonely people meet inside the New York amusement park, only to experience acute anxiety after they're separated.
