Choreographer Jirí Kylián and filmmaker Boris Paval Conen collaborated on this unique short film adaptation of the Bizet opera, employing a cast of dancers in their 50s, a 1937 automobile, and the bleak landscape found at an abandoned coal mine in Czechoslovakia. The program also includes the two Kylián dance shorts "La Cathédrale Engloutie" (1975) and "Silent Cries" (1983), featuring the music of Debussy. 61 min. total.
