An enigmatic (and possibly satanic) physician (George Arliss, in his film debut) weasels his way into the lives of a banker (Roland Bottomley) and his fiancée (Lucy Cotton) in this tantalizing silent melodrama, in which the doctor attempts to prove a vicious philosophical point: that evil can conquer truth. To achieve this, he manipulates one of the young woman's friends into confessing his unrequited love for her. Sylvia Breamer, Edmund Lowe co-star. 57 min. Standard; Soundtrack: music score. Silent with music score.
