A Quebec teen's (Xavier Dolan) struggles with his homosexuality are made even stormier because of the love/hate relationship he has with his divorced mother (Anne Dorval). As he experiences many of the discoveries typical of adolescence, the contempt he feels for his mother's kitschy style and manipulative behavior fuels an eventual emotional showdown.
