Set in Liverpool during the 1930s, director Stephen Frears' drama chronicles the struggles of 7-year-old Liam (Anthony Borrows) and his working-class family. As unemployment plagues the household, Liam's father (Ian Hart) begins to blame the Jews for his plight, while Liam blames himself, thanks to his strict Catholic upbringing.
