Julia Roberts is luminous in "Mona Lisa Smile" as an art history professor from the West Coast who arrives at an elite women's college in 1953 and draws attention for her progressive teaching style and views. Among the students affected by her are Kirsten Dunst, a spoiled, nasty young woman with traditional attitudes; Julia Stiles, who can't decide whether to marry or go to law school; and Maggie Gyllenhaal, a rebellious party girl. And, when Hollywood supercouple John Cusack and Catherine Zeta-Jones' failing marriage threatens to derail their latest film, studio publicist Billy Crystal must try to hide the pair's animosity at a lavish press junket. Making matters worse are the director's refusal to show the movie and Cusack's growing attraction to Roberts, Zeta-Jones' put-upon sister and personal assistant. "America's Sweethearts" also stars Hank Azaria, Stanley Tucci, Christopher Walken. 3 3/4 hrs. total on two discs. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital 5.1, French Dolby Digital Surround; Subtitles: English, French; deleted scenes; music video; filmographies.
