While the cruise ship he works on remains in a Buenos Aires port for repairs, Italian teen Bennie (Alden Ehrenreich) goes ashore to locate elder brother Tetro (Vincent Gallo), a brilliant but troubled writer who lives in seclusion. Received hospitably by Tetro's girlfriend (Maribel Verdu), Bennie tries to re-establish a relationship, an effort that calls up many ghosts from their past.
