A young priest is summoned to a small Italian village to take up the call of God for an old, decrepit pastor who's no longer strong enough to preach the word. This becomes a difficult task for the inexperienced minister since the locals don't trust him, and as he deals with their hypocrisy, he soon struggles with the temptation of the flesh himself!
