The day was March 30, 1981, when President Ronald Reagan and two other men were wounded in an assassination attempt outside a Washington hotel by deranged gunman John Hinckley. This docudrama follows the chaotic situation that ensued, as confusion over the chain of command and Reagan's condition led to power plays and a nuclear near-showdown with the Soviets. Richard Dreyfuss stars as Secretary of State Al Haig, and Richard Crenna is Reagan; with Michael Murphy, Holland Taylor. 98 min. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital Surround.
