The Arbor (2010)

Format:  The Arbor DVD

Director Clio Barnard's unique documentary, which employs a technique where actors lip-sync the speech of the interviewees they're portraying, presents a profile of troubled British playwright Andrea Dunbar through the eyes of her three children. A distressing picture of the author, who died in 1990 at the age of 29, is offered through a staging of her first play, examinations of her tough upbringing in a housing project in Bradford, and her particularly turbulent relationship with her equally doomed daughter Lorraine. 95 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English.
