The Crew (2000)/Oscar (1991)/Big Trouble (2002)
"Grumpy Old Men" meets "Goodfellas" as elderly ex-mobsters Burt Reynolds, Richard Dreyfuss, Seymour Cassel, and Dan Hedaya hatch a plan to save their Miami retirement home from shutting down, only to wind up on the wrong side of a local drug kingpin and the law, in "The Crew." Next, Sylvester Stallone puts on the pinstripes to play "Snaps" Provolone, a 1930s gangster who promises his dying father he'll go straight, discovers his accountant is set to marry his daughter, and loses black bags that contain $50,000 and jewelry. Director John Landis' screwball farce "Oscar" also stars Ornella Muti, Don Ameche, Kirk Douglas, and Marisa Tomei. And, based on humorist Dave Barry's first novel, "Big Trouble" stars Tim Allen as a former Miami Herald columnist who finds himself mistakenly thrust into a stew of eccentric hit men, cops, and hippies whose actions revolve around a missing metal suitcase containing a small nuclear weapon. With Janeane Garofalo, Rene Russo, Tom Sizemore. 4 3/4 hrs. total on two discs. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital stereo.
