The Witches (1967)
This ambitious anthology--an Italian/French co-production--features five stories starring Silvana Mangano. First, "The Witch Burnt Alive" concerns an actress/model who faces the preconceived notions of the residents at a mountain resort. In "Community Spirit," a woman attempts to take an injured man to a hospital--with hilarious results. "The Earth Seen from the Moon" is a delicate rumination on fate and love. Then, "The Sicilian" presents a tale of revenge and violence. Lastly, Clint Eastwood co-stars in "A Night Like Any Other," a comedy about the loss of romance in a relationship. Includes segments directed by Vittorio De Sica and Pier Paolo Pasolini. 100 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: Italian; Subtitles: English. In Italian with English subtitles.
