Not content to merely re-release his 1979 Vietnam War opus with extra footage, director Francis Ford Coppola actually re-edited the film and added 49 minutes of excised scenes--at the start of the boat journey upriver, encounters with former French colonists at a rundown plantation and with some stranded Playboy Playmates, and cut dialogue between Martin Sheen and Marlon Brando--to give new dimension to this important piece of '70s cinema. 202 min.
