The very first film to be shot in two-color Technicolor, "The Toll of the Sea" is an early screen adaptation of "La Boheme." While visiting Asia, an American falls in love with a beautiful Chinese woman--with tragic results. Anna May Wong, Kenneth Harlan, Beatrice Bentley star. Then, Gloria Swanson shines in "Shifting Sands," a tenement melodrama about a struggling artist who refuses an indecent proposal from a weaselly rent collector and is subsequently sent to jail by him on a trumped-up prostitution charge.
