After his platoon rendezvouses with a French spy and his beautiful daughter, a U.S. Marine (Tony Curtis) must lead the whole bunch through a perilous jungle in order to report the location of a Japanese minefield to Allied forces, in "Beachhead" (1954). With Frank Lovejoy, Mary Murphy, Eduard Franz. Next, the exciting, expert submarine epic "Run Silent, Run Deep" (1958) stars Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster as feuding Naval officers who find themselves going head-on against a Japanese submarine during World War II. Jack Warden, Don Rickles co-star. And, Cornel Wilde produced, directed, co-wrote, and stars in "Beach Red" (1967), a gritty and honest World War II tale that intercuts poignant flashbacks with intense battle scenes to illustrate the horrors of war experienced by a squad of Marines, and their Japanese counterparts, as they face one another on a small island in the Pacific. Rip Torn, Burr DeBenning, Patrick Wolfe also star. 4 3/4 hrs. total. Standard/Widescreen; Soundtrack: English Dolby Pro Logic II.
