Fresh off a stint in a mental hospital, upbeat but repressed office worker Maggie Gyllenhaal takes a job as personal assistant to tightly-wound lawyer James Spader. When her typing errors elicit a swift and kinky reprimand from Spader, Gyllenhaal begins making mistakes on purpose, turning their relationship into a full-blown leap into sadomasochism. Jeremy Davies and Lesley Ann Warren co-star in this darkly funny, yet oddly sweet, comedy/drama. 111 min.
