Rock Around The Clock (1956)
The original "rock-'n'-roll film" finds a frustrated big band promoter (Johnny Johnston) and his buddy getting clued in to the music of Bill Haley and His Comets at a small-town dance. Johnston signs the combo and a brother-sister dance team, and--with a little help from DJ Alan Freed (as himself)--Haley's hip new sound sweeps across America. With The Platters and Frankie Bell and His Bellboys; songs include "See You Later, Alligator," "The Great Pretender," and the title tune. 77 min.
