When impoverished villagers kidnap a cruel magistrate's daughter to force him to lower their taxes, they get some unlikely defenders in the form of a rogue samurai and two rebellious fighters from the magistrate's guard. Director Hideo Gosha's action-filled and much-admired Chanbara saga, based on a Japanese TV series, stars Tetsuro Tamba, Isamu Nagato, and Mikijiro Hira. 93 min.
