Radio and pulp fiction's enigmatic foe of the evil which "lurks in the hearts of men" made his screen debut as the host/narrator in a series of short whodunits for Universal. A crooked bank president is visited by an escaped convict with an ax to grind in "A Burglar To The Rescue" (1931), starring Thurston Hall. Two hunters find a body in a cottage in the woods in "House Of Mystery" (1931), with James Durkin and Geneva Mitchell. And an aerialist's death was no accident in "The Circus Show-Up" (1932), with Sally Blane. Frank Readick supplies the Shadow's voice. Standard; Soundtrack: English.
