Roberto Rossellini: 2-Disc Collector's Edition

Format:  Roberto Rossellini: 2-Disc Collector's Edition DVD

Two rare works from renowned Italian filmmaker Roberto Rossellini are featured in this two-disc set. First, the darkly satirical "Dov'e La Liberta...?" ("Where Is Freedom?") (1954) centers on a barber (Toto) who spends 20 years in prison for the murder of his wife's lover. Having trouble adjusting to life on the outside, he decides the only way he'll be happy is to wind up back behind bars. Nyta Dover co-stars. And, in Nazi-occupied Rome, three escaped POWs--an American pilot, a Russian sergeant, and a British officer--find refuge with a beautiful bootlegger, putting her Communist lover in harm's way, in the drama "Era Notte A Roma" ("Escape By Night") (1960). Giovanna Ralli, Leo Genn, Renato Salvatori star. 3 3/4 hrs. total. Standard; Soundtracks: Italian Dolby Digital mono; Subtitles: English, Spanish. In Italian with English subtitles.
