With the advent of Pearl Harbor, rear admiral Charles Laughton has no choice but to prep a dry-docked WWI destroyer for recommissioning. The admiral hands the helm to tough, old-school commander Brian Donlevy, and boots arrogant blueblood Robert Taylor from his cushy desk job to serve as second.
