Hopalong Cassidy (William Boyd) heads off a bunch of pesky Easterners who are trying to take over some valuable land, in "Riders Of The Timberline" (1941). No, "Riders Of The Deadline" (1943) isn't the Movies Unlimited catalog writers on horseback! It's Hoppy and the Bar 20 Ranch gang saddling up to clear a young man after he gets mixed up with gamblers. With Andy Clyde and a young Robert Mitchum. What's false in "False Paradise" (1948) is the spiel that a slick-tongued banker gives a retired professor and his daughter so he and his criminal colleagues can buy their silver-rich land for a song. Clyde, Rand Brooks co-star. Western action is mixed with mystery in "Unexpected Guest" (1947). When members of California's family, gathered at the estate of a late relative to claim their inheritance, begin turning up murdered, it's up to Cassidy to find the killer. Finally, it's not tourism and coffee bars, but rustling, gambling and other illegal activities keeping a "Wide Open Town" (1941) afloat, until Hoppy, Lucky and California ride in to straighten things up. 5 1/2 hrs. total.
