Hopalong Cassidy, Vol. 5

Format:  Hopalong Cassidy, Vol. 5 DVD

There's trouble brewing along the U.S.-Mexico border, and it's up to Hopalong Cassidy (William Boyd) to become (what else?) an "Undercover Man" (1942) and learn who's stirring up ill feelings with a series of robberies. The "Three Men From Texas" (1940) are Cassidy, California and Lucky, and their mission in this frontier actioner is to keep is to keep a bad guy (Morris Ankrum) from gaining control of the Texas-Mexico border. Then, Hoppy and the Bar 20 gang go up against some rustlers raiding their friend's ranch, in "Stick To Your Guns" (1941). When three dead people turn up at a frontier hotel, it's up to Cassidy to chase down the killers, in "The Dead Don't Dream" (1948). Clyde and Rand Brooks also star. And no, "Colt Comrades" (1943) is not another book about the old days of Baltimore football by Art Donovan. It's Cassidy and California as oil prospectors whose discovery of an underground well threatens bad guy Victor Jory's local water monopoly. Look for George Reeves and Robert Mitchum in early screen roles. 5 2/3 hrs. total. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital 5.1.
