Brand is an illiterate Dutch farmer whose wife, Keet, has grown weary of having to read everything to him. Enter Lena, a beautiful young tutor who begins a passionate affair with Brand. Keet, who's unable to have children, encourages the tryst long enough for Lena to get pregnant. When Lena gives birth to a baby boy, Keet decides she wants her life back, and she'll do whatever it takes to get it. Alex Van Warmerdam (who also wrote and directed), Annet Malherbe and Ariane Schluter star in this darkly comic tale. 95 min.
