The Major And The Minor (1942)
The Hollywood directorial debut of Billy Wilder (who also co-scripted with Charles Brackett), this screwball gem stars Ginger Rogers as a woman who can only afford a child's ticket for a cross-country train ride and poses as a 12-year-old girl. Ray Milland is the Army officer who becomes Rogers' "guardian" on the train and takes her to his military academy.
