Three historic 1975 documentaries produced by the Chicago-based Kartemquin Films highlight the struggles of everyday people aiming to improve their working conditions through the efforts of their labor unions. "HSA Strike--75" follows the strike of the physicians' union at Chicago's Cook County Hospital; "U.E./Wells" follows the United Electrical Workers as they attempt to organize the multi-ethnic employees of a cast iron foundry; and "Local 70" depicts the walkout of unemployment compensation workers due to mandatory overtime and the lack of proper staffing. 55 min. total.
