The Internationale (2000)
Is it possible for music to change the world? Originally set to the melody of "La Marseillaise," the communist/socialist anthem composed in 1871 known as "The Internationale" came to serve as a rallying cry for the world's oppressed peoples. In addition to rare archival footage and performances, this documentary features musicians Pete Seeger and Billy Bragg discussing the song's significance and the continuing power of music as a cultural force. 30 min. Soundtrack: English; bonus short "Toscanini: Hymn Of The Nations" (1944); biography; photo gallery.
