Breaking away from the conservative and literary style of post-World War II British cinema, a group of younger filmmakers embraced an aesthetic of social realism influenced by the French New Wave. This three-disc collection features a compilation of 16 short documentaries from 1952-63, including "O Dreamland" (1953) and "Every Day Except Christmas" (1957) by Lindsay Anderson, "Momma Don't Allow" (1956) by Tony Richardson, and "We Are The Lambeth Boys" (1959) by Karel Reisz. 7 3/4 hrs. total.
