First, in "Don't Knock the Rock," a pop singer returns to his hometown to discover that he and his bandmates have been labeled as bad influences by the mayor and banned from performing there. With help from DJ Alan Freed (portraying himself) and such acts as Bill Haley and His Comets, The Treniers, Little Richard, and The Applejacks, he proves that rock ain't so bad after all! Alan Dale, Patricia Hardy, Fay Baker star. Then, in "Rock Around the Clock," a frustrated big band promoter becomes the manager for Bill Haley and His Comets and proceeds to introduce them--and rock and roll music--to the world. With Freed, Johnny Johnston, Lisa Gaye, and a performance by The Platters. 162 min. total on two discs.
