Milos Forman ("Amadeus") directs this lavish drama set in late 1700s Spain, where a devoted priest (Javier Bardem) invites the wrath of the still-dangerous Inquisition by hiring controversial artist Francisco Goya (Stellan Skarsgard) to paint his portrait. When one of Goya's models (Natalie Portman) is imprisoned by Church officials, she and the priest have a fateful encounter that will haunt them both years later.
