The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing (1973)

This 1973 western made headlines more for its off-screen drama (involving Burt Reynolds and Sarah Miles) than its on-screen action. John Williams turned in a fine score in the style of his melodic Americana from The Reivers and The Cowboys, hinting at the quirky bluegrass to come in The Missouri Breaks. The CD also includes the film's rejected music by Michel Legrand (The Thomas Crown Affair) - never before heard - which is more avant g and Native American-based.
