Above And Beyond (1952)

M-G-M's Above and Beyond (1952) told the real-life story of Paul Tibbets, who oversaw the mission to drop the atomic bomb on Japan and thus end World War II. More than a wartime chronicle, the film's domestic drama was universally praised. Driving the action and emotion is a marvelous score by Hugo Friedhofer (The Best Years of Our Lives), with a stirring main theme that ranks as one of his all-time best.
