Some Came Running (1958) was a masterpiece of small-town Americana starring Frank Sinatra as a conflicted writer, costarring Dean Martin, Shirley MacLaine and Martha Hyer, and directed by Vincente Minnelli. The score by Elmer Bernstein is one of his best, combining heartfelt Americana, sizzling big-band jazz and dramatic action. The complete soundtrack (including source music) is reconstructed almost entirely in stereo from 35mm magnetic film masters, monaural tape and acetates.
