It was 1943 in a small North Ireland village, and London-born Rose Coyne (Hattie Morahan) and her innkeeper husband Michael (Owen McDonnell) had,like the rest of the locals, to deal with the influx of thousands of American soldier once an Army Air Force base was established there. Rose, though, would have the added issue of her attraction to Yank liaison officer Capt. Ronald Dreyfuss (Aaron Staton).
