Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw adapted his widely popular 1913 play into an Academy Award-winning screenplay for this delightful British comedy about coarse Cockney flower peddler Eliza Doolittle (Wendy Hiller) and linguistics professor Henry Higgins (Leslie Howard). On a bet, Higgins asserts that with six months of nurturing he can pass off the lowly Eliza as a sophisticated woman of refined taste. Co-stars Wilfrid Lawson, Marie Lohr, Scott Sunderland; co-directed by Anthony Asquith and Howard. 90 min. Standard; Soundtrack: English.
