Classic Hollywood epic, highlighted by a jaw-dropping re-creation of the 1906 earthquake, stars Clark Gable as Frisco gambling hall tycoon Blackie Norton, who hires aspiring opera singer Mary Blake (Jeanette MacDonald) and falls for her. Father Tim Mullin (Spencer Tracy) tries to help his pal Blackie when Mary takes her dream job against his wishes and begins a Nob Hill scion (Jack Holt), but their lives are forever changed by the quake's devastation.
