John Richards (David Field) and Bill Shaw (Syd Brisbane) are two alcoholic gamblers down on their luck... but things are about to change. They are given the opportunity to race their very own greyhound, Silent Partner, for fame and glory. They agree to train and race the greyhound for it's owner, mysterious Mr. Silver, who has been barred from the track because of his criminal past. For the first time in their entire adult lives, John and Bill are looking up instead of looking down into an empty bottle or at another losing ticket at the track. Of course, all good things must come to an end. Their scheming backer, Mr. Silver, reveals that he has his own plan for the dog and all comes to a crashing halt for these two bar flies. Based on a play by Daniel Keene, Silent Partner is a comedy about friendship and survival in a world of limited opportunities.
