Smokey Robinson & The Miracles were in right at the birth of Motown in 1959. Indeed the very first release on the Motown imprint was The Miracles performing "Bad Girl". Such was the band's association with the label that in 1972 Smokey Robinson became Motown's Vice-President, a role he held up until the sale of the label in 1988. Initially billed just as The Miracles, from 1965 onwards they became Smokey Robinson & The Miracles until Smokey left the group in 1972. Smokey was the group's lead singer, principle songwriter and producer writing or co-writing many of the band's numerous hit singles and also penning classic songs for other Motown artists. After Robinson's departure The Miracles won't on to have further hits including the disco classic "Love Machine", whilst after a quiet period Smokey Robinson's solo career delivered hits such as "Cruisin'" and "Being With You". They are without doubt one of the most influential acts in the history of Black American music. Great combination of full length vintage performance footage and recent interviews with band members Smokey Robinson, Pete Moore and Bobby Rogers. Contains the classics: "The Tears Of A Clown", "I Second That Emotion", "The Tracks Of My Tears", "Going To A Go-Go", "Shop Around", "Love Machine", "Being With You" and many more! DVD Format: NTSC Region 2-6.
