Small-town resident Irene Dunne authors a steamy best-seller, using a pen name so she doesn't rile the neighbors. After a tempestuous publisher's meeting in Manhattan, dust-jacket artist Melvyn Douglas follows her home and teasingly threatens to blow her cover.
