The first installment of "The Yusuf Trilogy" from Turkish filmmaker Semih Kaplanoglu introduces Yusuf (Nejat Isler), a poet in his 30s who returns to his hometown of Tire, Turkey, for the first time in years after the death of his mother. He encounters an unknown relative, Ayla (Saadet Aksoy), and together they journey to where Yusuf is to make the sacrifice that was his mother's wish, while dealing with the guilt of his estrangement.
