Expanding upon his 2005 Academy Award-nominated animated short, writer/director Shane Acker takes the numerically named rag doll character known as 9 (voiced by Elijah Wood) into a richly imagined postapocalyptic metropolis, where he meets up with his eight predecessors, including the leader, #1 (Christopher Plummer).
