A Woman Rebels

Katharine Hepburn shines as late-19th-century Englishwoman Pamela Thistlewaite, who defies Victorian conventions by refusing to get married and deciding to stand on her own. Thistlewaite winds up working as editor for a women’s magazine where she shifts the publication’s focus to serious issues like gender equality, making her the leader of a women’s movement, all while scandalously raising a child by herself.
