This compilation of Best Picture-nominees from the Academy Awards' first decade opens with the silent crime drama "The Racket" (1928), in which honest police captain Thomas Meighan battles corruption to bring bootlegger Louis Wolheim to justice. Also, conniving newspaper editor Adolphe Menjou schemes to keep top reporter Pat O'Brien from quitting, in the original film version of "The Front Page" (1931). Four-disc set also includes "Alibi" (1929), "A Farewell to Arms" (1932), "The Private Life of Henry VIII," "A Star Is Born" (1937), "Pygmalion" (1938), and "Love Affair" (1939). 13 hrs. total. Standard; Soundtrack: English; theatrical trailers.
