AIDS JaaGO comprises four short films by directors Mira Nair, Vishal Bhardwaj, Santosh Sivan and Farhan Akhtar, aiming to dismantle myths and misconceptions about HIV/AIDS. This project was the brainchild of Mira Nair and is produced by her company, Mirabai Films. Each film comes from a different part of India, has it's own genre, and and offers it's own perspective about HIV/AIDS, featuring top Indian movie stars to maximize the exposure of the films to audiences throughout India and around the world. Migration depicts the AIDS virus as the great class leveler in society by following it's transmission through interweaving stories linking urban and rural India. The film follows Birju, a young man who makes a careless decision that destroys the lives of everyone around him. Positive tells the story of a young boy's family and how they cope with the devastation that AIDS brings to their family. After tolerating his father's indiscretions for years in his youth, he must reconcile his desire to start a new life for himself with his duties to his family. Prarambha (The Beginning) features South Indian superstar Prabhu Deva as a truck driver who discovers a young boy named Kittu stowed away in his vehicle. He reluctantly agrees to help Kittu in his search to find his long lost mother and encounters a world of ignorance and prejudice he never knew existed. Blood Brothers stars Siddharth (Jigarthanda) as a successful young man who receives a positive HIV diagnosis and subsequently allows his life to fall apart. Wandering aimlessly through city streets, his encounters demonstrate the different ways HIV/AIDS victims cope with their diagnoses.
