Having burned all his bridges, unscrupulous fisherman Matt Kelly (Robert Ryan) slunk back to his Alaska home town--and old buddy Jim Kimmerly (Brian Keith) took him into his salmon cannery co-op, no questions asked. Jim would swiftly regret it, as his supposed buddy not only threw in with trap poachers, but made a play for his girl (Jan Sterling).
